ReadySight robot navigates rocks, rugs and all sorts of indoor and outdoor terrain.

November 9, 2021

There are a lot of reasons we turned to the cloud when it came to how ReadySight™ robots were going to handle data.

All of the video ReadySight robots record is saved immediately to the cloud. This means physical storage cannot be damaged or lost, and allows data to be integrated seamlessly into existing evidence storage software. Saving data to the user’s phone would be prohibitive for a number of reasons, but would also make the device potentially subject to holding as evidence. We didn’t want that to happen.

The cloud gives any number of users the ability to watch video streamed live from any number of ReadySight robots, and even take over control of units should the situation call for it. This is a huge boon to those in a command setting as it gives them the most up to date information possible into what is happening on the ground.

Including the computing power for machine learning algorithms would have been cost prohibitive, and forcing a cell phone to do it could lead to crashes.

Using the cloud in this way allows our ReadySight robots to do things that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

At the end of the day it’s about putting tools that make a difference into the hands of those who need them most. The ReadySight robot is that tool; something that can be used every day because it’s versatile, tough, and smart.
